Workshop on the evolution of linguistic databases and the design of their annotation schemas
CHORD talk in interaction
The CHORD-talk-in-interaction project organised its third workshop at the University of Neuchâtel from January 15-16, 2024, with the option to attend virtually via Zoom. This hybrid event addressed issues related to the “longevity” of large linguistic databases that are used for research on social interaction.
Simona Pekarek Doehler (University of Neuchâtel) and Jérôme Jacquin (University of Lausanne), both professors of French linguistics and members of CHORD-talk-in-interaction, invited Carole Etienne from Laboratoire ICAR (Lyon) and Johannes Wagner from the University of Southern Denmark to talk about the challenges and best practices in creating annotation schemas in view of the preservation and usability of data in the long-term. They put the evolution of databases at the centre and gave practical examples of the analytical possibilities (and limitations) of selected interaction databases.
